It’s rare that a book creates that intense need to keep knowing MORE while reading, and Dualed has that quality. Her reasoning for becoming a striker and avoiding Chord are understandable yet becoming an assassin to bury the nightmares of your brother dying I often receive books for review, but this does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

There’s not much to say about this ‘should have’ other than the fact that it would have made the cat-and-mouse aspect of Dualed a lot more fun and multi-layered than it was just told by the POV of West and, admittedly, I did have some fun reading the cat-and-mouse aspect from her perspective, tooand it would have given the other Alt a good deal of character development and maybe have the readers grow to like both Alts, so that the impact of the finale when one of them wins would have more emotional impact.

Don’t you think you’ll have more nightmares? Throughout the entire book, we’re never given West’s Alt’s name. You can never have enough reading material. What caused the world to need two people that are excatly alike to fight to the death? There was so much promise because this is such an insanely awesome ideabut it just didn’t reach its full potential.

She isn’t cruel at all. Feb 26, Pages Young Adult.

And as for her relationship with Chord, I really couldn’t care less about that, either. Cha;man she gets active we get another time skip to the final 10 or 8 days. Also, don’t let the summary fool you, there is no romance in this book. I guess that was proven to be possible when people read Grave Mercy duzled didn’t recieve dkaled highest acclaim from my friends, but still! Need to find something? When it came to other aspects of the story, I could suspend disbelief enough to believe Kersh wanted to be a land of killers, but I wanted to read more about why the Board activated certain individuals when they did.

After that, the book failed to capture my attention, and I had else really hard time focusing on the book. It has to be strange knowing that someone who looks exactly like you is out there in the world and you have no idea who they are or what they are like and most likely the only time you will ever meet them is the day they come to kill epsie.

I’m fairly certain we were meant to understand the difference between killing a stranger versus your own face, but that wasn’t communicated to me as a reader. Quand elle me verra? This is an optional purchase. The synopsis dualedd me of Marie Brennan’s Doppelganger series.

What I liked most about this story were West’s struggles–with losing her family, her friends, being forced into a world of violence. Apart of me wants to jump up and cheer her on while the other part wants to strangle her. It makes me cringe every time I see them.

One thing I have to say about the book however is West becomes an hired assassin, available to kill an Alt at a price for an individual for an Alt who feels unable to do it themselves. Couldn’t they just test out which Alt was stronger and then have them in a kind of drafting system in case a military was needed? Fans of the Divergent trilogy will want to read this imaginative tale.

So, the idea of this being a dystopian society, and the one “safe” city, is kind of ridiculous.

And when she became a striker, I wish I felt more of that desperation to seek a last resort or that feeling she had after her first kill. Qui trouvera l’autre d’abord?

A battle against ones own self. Fifteen-year-old West Grayer has trained as a fighter, preparing for the day elsiie her assignment arrives and she will have one month to hunt down and kill her Alt.
