Its not usual gossip kind of stuff but its real thoughts ot Mani ratnam whole. Amazing book about the insights of this gem of a director to Indian Cinema. The music was loony vonversation fresh with a mix of synth, swelling strings and acoustics.
Hopefully, this captures some of the confusion in reviewing the book. Shouldn’t the questions be framed in a way such that people, who haven’t seen his wirh, get a DVD copy and see it?

Before reading you have to watch all maniratnam’s film to completely understand the book. The title should be at least 4 characters long.
W read about them, and dissect their techniques. Getting to know wkth pattern of mani rathnam could be very difficult if not for this book.
Sreeram as the cinematographer. Rangan is quite the consummate critic, but either he isn’t a particularly great interviewer or MR is just hard to open up as BR actually complains at one pointso there is often ratbam awkward forced feeling about their conversations especially at the beginning, and Mani Ratnam appears not to have much patience for BR’s “intellectualization” of his movies.

The Q and A format is alright for mxni most part and Rangan’s ratna, are insightful. With a dedicated chapter for each of his films, this book is full of honest insights about the filmmaker’s craft and process and it leaves you awe-struck in the sense that you realize that after all, Mani Ratnam is the filmmaker who he is only because of his dedication and passion for film making.
